About This Place

Big Bear Deli, nestled in the heart of Post Falls, Idaho, is a must-visit destination for deli lovers craving hearty, handcrafted sandwiches and fresh, flavorful fare. Specializing in classic American deli cuisine with a twist, Big Bear Deli takes pride in its generous portions and thoughtfully curated menu that satisfies both traditional and adventurous palates alike.

At the center of the menu is the iconic Big Bear sandwich — a culinary behemoth that lives up to its name with layers of savory meats and cheeses, piled high on fresh bread. This sandwich, along with other crowd favorites like the Reuben, Meatloaf Sandwich, and Turkey Bacon Ranch Melt (TBR), showcases an admirable balance of bold, smoky, and tangy flavors. The TBR, in particular, is a standout, offering perfectly smoked bacon paired with creamy ranch dressing that melts seamlessly into turkey layers – customers rave about the rich depth and irresistible smoky warmth the bacon brings to each bite.

But Big Bear Deli is far more than sandwiches. The Lemon Pepper Feta Wrap, dripping with citrusy brightness and creamy tang, and the Blue Cheese Dressing on crisp lettuce offer a refreshing twist to lunchtime staples. For those seeking comforting warmth, the Chicken Noodle Soup is a nourishing hug in a bowl — rich, savory broth with tender chicken and tender noodles, ideal for a chilly Post Falls day. Fresh salads like Spinach, Creamy Dill Pasta Salad, and House Made Slaw add delightful texture and vivid flavors, ensuring a complete meal that feels both satisfying and wholesome.

One of the deli’s special touches is its attentiveness to dietary needs, as emphasized by regular customer Chris Curto. With gluten-free multigrain bread that holds the sandwich together without compromise, Big Bear Deli thoughtfully crafts meals safe for celiac diners, preparing these orders with care and separated from the main line. This attention to detail reflects the team’s genuine commitment to all guests’ experiences.

The atmosphere at Big Bear Deli is inviting and unfussy — perfect for a quick lunch break or a casual meet-up with friends. While some long-time patrons note a slight change in meat portioning compared to earlier days, the quality and flavor still earn high praise. Customer Dani Olson’s enthusiasm captures that perfectly: from the standout bacon to the smoked gouda paired with roasted red pepper soup, the deli delivers bold and memorable tastes that linger long after the meal.

Whether you’re stepping in for a robust handheld sandwich, a fresh salad, or a comforting bowl of soup, Big Bear Deli offers a reliably satisfying experience with friendly service and flavors that feel crafted with love. It’s a local haven for anyone craving the kind of deli food that feels hearty, genuine, and simply delicious.

Always a great lunch! I got the Big Bear sandwich, which is literally a sandwich big enough for a bear lol! I'm celiac, so gluten-free is a big deal. They use a simple GF multigrain bread. It's decent and held together so I could eat the sandwich. They prepared my sandwich off to the side on a piece of sandwich wrap. It was kept off the main assembly line. Put together by a separate worker with new gloves. They "do thier best" but off no guarantee. There's some inherent risk for a celiac when eating at a sandwich shop, but this place works for me. Overall DELICIOUS!

The meat on the sandwiches we had today(Rachel and Reuben) was pretty skimpy as compared to when the original owners had the shop. Which is rather sad, but the sandwiches were still really good.

YUMM! We had errands in Post Falls and wanted to try somewhere new and we are SO glad we did! I order the TBR (Turkey Bacon Ranch) and he ordered the Club. I also had the roasted red pepper and smoked gouda soup. Absolutely delucious. We were only able to eat half of a sandwich in one sitting. I recommend ordering any sandwich with bacon. Their bacon was delicious and perfectly smoked and cooked! We will be back.
